casitsunodepositbonus|China to extend anti-dumping duties on styrene imported from ROK, Taiwan region, U.S.
BEIJINGcasitsunodepositbonus, June 21 (Xinhua) -- China will continue to levy anti-dumping duties on styrene imported from the Republic of Korea (ROK), the Taiwan region and the United States for five years from June 23, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Friday.
In June 2018, the ministry announced a decision to impose anti-dumping duties on the two countries and the Taiwan region for a period of five years. Duties on styrene imports were set at a range of 6.2 percent to 7.5 percent for the ROK, 3.8 percent to 4.2 percent for the Taiwan region, and 13.7 percent to 55.7 percent for the United States.
Styrene, also known as styrene monomer, is a chemical used widely in the plastics and rubber industries.
In June 2023, the ministry launched a review of anti-dumping measures applicable to imports of styrene from the ROK, the Taiwan region and the United States, in response to an application from the Chinese mainland styrene industry.
It was ruled that should the anti-dumping measures be terminated, the dumping of styrene from the two countries and the Taiwan region could continue or reoccur, which could damage the Chinese mainland styrene industry, according to the ministry.■
