KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's exports rose 1arcadegeddon.7 percent year-on-year to 126.05 billion ringgit (27.02 billion U.S. dollars) in June, official data showed Thursday.
The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) said in a statement that the export growth was contributed mainly by higher demand for machinery, equipment and parts, liquefied natural gas (LNG) as well as palm oil-based manufactured products.
In June, exports of manufactured goods, which represented 87.1 percent of total exports, expanded by 1 percent to 109.74 billion ringgit.
Malaysia's imports for the month also increased by 17.8 percent year-on-year to 111.76 billion ringgit.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's trade in June grew 8.7 percent year-on-year to 237.81 billion ringgit.
As for the first half, Malaysia's exports climbed 3.9 percent to 731.11 billion ringgit while imports jumped 13.8 percent to 664.99 billion ringgit.
Overall, the Southeast Asian country saw its trade for the first half expand by 8.4 percent to 1.4 trillion ringgit. (1 ringgit equals 0.21 U.S. dollar)■
