KABULpennslammer36500hs, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Despite economic challenges, Afghanistan has provided fiber optic services to 26 out of 34 provinces, said the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
"So far, 26 provinces of the country have been connected to fiber optic services," local media TOLOnews quoted Enayatullah Alokozay, spokesperson of the ministry, as saying on Tuesday.
Seven regions of Afghanistan are connected to fiber optic services through neighboring countries, said Alokozay, adding that some countries are interested in investing in the sector.
Of some 40 million people in Afghanistan, 10 to 12 million use internet daily.■
