NEW DELHI, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Around ten persons died and more than 20 were injured after multiple landslides hit the Wayanad area of India's southern state Kerala amid heavy rains early Tuesday morning, confirmed a local police officer to Xinhua over phone.
The landslides struck in the Meppadi area even as people were still asleep. Rescue work was on, though heavy rains were causing a disruption, added the police.
According to the officer, at least three landslides hit the area at around 02monopolyroulette:00 a.m. local time.
