32ndseagames|Boosting ties with China foreign policy priority for Iran: senior MP
TEHRAN32ndseagames, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Promoting ties with China is among the foreign policy priorities of Iran's newly formed government, a senior Iranian lawmaker has said.
"Iran's new administration seeks to have good relations with all countries, especially the neighbors, Muslim states and other friendly countries, such as China," Alaeddin Boroujerdi, also chairman of the Iran-China Friendship Association, told Xinhua in a recent interview.
He said the Iran-China relationship is firm and at a "high level," highlighting the great potential for expanding bilateral cooperation on the "good basis" of the 25-year Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement signed in March 2021.
Boroujerdi listed some fields for further bilateral cooperation, such as the oil and gas sector, high-speed railway construction, and the establishment of joint ventures.
In an article published in Tehran Times on July 13, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian remarked that his country "highly values" the friendship with China, describing expanding relations with Beijing as a foreign policy priority.■
